Trade and Buy Policy
- Acceptance of books for trade or cash is solely at the
discretion of Treasure House Books.
- We accept books that are in good or better
condition. Books that have missing or clipped covers, mildew, smell bad, loose
or missing pages, water damage, a high level of wear and/or are stained
will not be accepted for buy or trade.
- A minimum of 20% of
trade purchases must be made in cash (i.e. if you have $10 in
trade credit and you get $10 worth of books, $2(plus tax) of your
purchase will be made in cash, leaving you $2 left in trade credit).
- We give a credit amount for book trades that can be used
toward the purchase of used (green price sticker) or discount (yellow price
sticker) books in the store. Credit cannot be used to
purchase new books (white price sticker), non-book merchandise, comic books,
graphic novels, toys or special orders.
- Most mass market paperbacks are given a trade credit of
20-25% of their cover price. Romance books are given a trade credit of 15-20%
of the cover price. The amount of credit is based on condition, number in
stock, and over all salability of the book.
- Hardback and trade paperback books are usually given a
trade credit of about 15% or less of the retail amount. Acceptance and amount
for trade of these books are based on several factors including condition and
current market value.
- Trade credit has no cash value.
- Cash paid for books is based on current need and market
value and is some what less than the amount of trade credit would be.
- We pay cash for textbooks based on market value.
Most textbooks need to be the current edition.
- This policy can change at any time at the discretion
of Treasure House Books.
- Trade credit accounts that have no activity for more
than consecutive 365 days will be deleted and all trade credit will be lost.
Short Version:
For trades, if we accept the book,
we give a dollar amount equal to about half of the price we would sell the book
for (a little less than half for Romance books). Trade credit can be used on any
books with green (used) or yellow (over) prices stickers. Trade
credit cannot be used for books with white price stickers, special orders or for
non-book items. A minimum of 20% on trade credit purchases is required to be
paid in cash.
